April 2018 - Northern Monkeys Meet

My RT will be getting taxed on Sunday 1st April 2018.

It has been suggested that we get a ride out organised, any thoughts or suggestions on what to do & where to go?

I'll kick it off with, "how about an Easter Egg Run", are you aware of any in your local area, near Wetherby would be good.

Obviously, this is a Bank Holiday weekend, would folks be available or prefer to leave it until later in the month.

Hopefully I'll be away that weekend, (not intended the way it may come across) so later would be better for me.

When are you available & where would you like to go.

Calendar clear so far, other than 1st. Happy to go with the flow. Have we done the North York Moors yet? Might be one I missed last time. A  Yorkshire Wolds v.2 would be nice with it's open uncongested roads.

What do others think?

Yes, we did the NYM in 2017, I seem to remember folks would be happy to do it again.

What would Yorkshire Wolds v.2 look like?

Not given it any thought yet. A good enough run last time I think but maybe we could have a stop at a coastal chippie, eg Hornsea, and finish up at the Yorkshire Waterways Museum as opposed to Howden. Just thinking aloud.

I'll quietly have a look too & see what I can come up with, then we can "pool" our ideas.

Although not quite on the seafront, there is a chippy owned by the same folks who have the one at Wetwang, we could share a box of fish & chips.

If you would like a sea view, there is another chippy just around the corner, the Seafront Chippy.

Datewise, an early one will give us options and perhaps an alternative to the west, Dales, Trough of Bowland?

Glady take the fish if you want the chips.

Sounds like a plan, an East/West split, depending on the weather forecast.

Heading West, could go to Dunsop Bridge (the geographical Centre of GB).

If enough folks turn out, we may be able to fill the BT phone box which marks the spot.

At this rate, we'll be doing a ride once a week, not once per month!

As always, Garmin BaseCamp GPS routes are available for any attendees.

Nice little Tea Rooms in Dunsop Bridge where they ask if you'd like half a sandwich! There's a lot of cyclist's and walkers around that area who obviously watch their calorie intake! Maybe they're all trying to fit in the phone box?  ;)

Last time out, a box of fish & chips fed three of us.
