Reset to defaults

Took my 2016 RT for a ride today for the first time in a couple months.  Battery has been kept on a battery tender, and should have been fully charged.  It has keyless ignition, so I pressed the ignition button and it went through the normal startup sequence as it should.  Then when I hit the red start button, the engine did not turn over and the whole bike seemed to reboot and go through the startup sequence again.  I hit the red button to start it one more time and the same thing happened.  On the third try, the engine started as it should and the bike ran normally after that.

As I was riding, I noticed that my background screen changed from "speedo" to the RT symbol, and several other defaults were reset as well.  Anyone had this happen to them?  Seems like maybe the battery had died, but I don't understand why it started just fine on the third try and ran normally after that.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Twice now when starting (warm start once, cold start the second time),  the bike cranks, sounds like it backfires, then stops turning over.
The dash setting for the background display went from my preferred Speedo to the default of RT Logo, then the second time the background changes as per the first time, and the Info display went from my preferred Range, back to the default of Average Fuel Consumption.

It's as if the backfire (or whatever is going on) loads the starter so much for a moment that the battery drops below a critical voltage and the dash User preferences are partially lost.

I dropped the bike in for its 50,000 km service today and discussed it with the service person, he suspects the battery may be on its way out and causing the resets due to low voltage.
Can the Elec. voltage be displayed via the on-board computer.

Yes the voltage can be displayed prior to starting to see whats in the battery, then you can see the voltage when running to make sure everything is charging correctly.

Typically, what voltages would you except to see prior to start up & whilst running.

Depends if you've just unplugged a battery conditioner (charger) normally med to high 12's (12.6v - 12.9v) and low to med 14's while running.

I just turned ignition on, and it read 11.9, and a few seconds later read 12.0.  I didn't start it, have visitors here today so I can't ride for now.  I'll check it once I get back on to see running voltage.

At 11.9v, the battery is only 25% charged.

As above, after the battery charger has been disconnected for at least an hour, a fully charged battery should show 12.6v - 12.8v.

When running, 13.8v - 14.5v is normal.
