Alarm

Hi all,

My 2010 RT looks like it's going to be written off so I removed the DWA 6 alarm, one plug basically. I now have a 2013 model coming and was wondering if it's just as easy to fit? ie plug it in and away you go.
I'm hoping I don't have to take it to BMW to be set up.
Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

I did originally post this in the electrical system part of the forum but got no replies, so fingers crossed now  :)

So, I fitted the alarm and it works fine but, now my tyre pressure monitor doesn't work. My old bike had the monitor too and it worked fine.

The alarm incorporates the monitor unit I believe.

I have disconnected the battery for 5 mins but it hasn't made a difference. I have done a 20+ mile trip and nothing. After about 15 mins the amber warning light comes on to say I have flat tyres.

Does anyone know of a fix for this?

cheers

I would try disconnecting the alarm to make sure it's not just a coincidence that it happened after you installed the alarm.

Which unit is it, this thread from BMWMOA suggests there may be three options, https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.ph ... heft-Alarm

"The only question is which box... RDC (TPM) Only, Alarm only, or Alarm and RDC (TPM) combined."

Thanks for that. But like I said my previous bike had the TPM too and it worked fine.  :-X

I'll have another tinker and see if I can get it to work.

Cheers for that though.

So, I stuck the standalone TPM back on and it works again... I'm confused  :-\

Here's a couple of pics I took of the units. Can anyone see anything that stands out as wrong??

I'm confused.com, the TPM unit (RHS) has one electrical connector, whereas the combined TPM/Alarm unit (LHS) appears to have two.

Looks like the TPMS wheel sensors need pairing to the TPM/Alarm unit.

See this BMWMOA thread, inc. the link to hexcode, https://forums.bmwmoa.org/showthread.ph ... 13-R1200RT
