When I try to install the map update, GE prompts me to select a region because the internal (device) storage space it not sufficient for the size of the full EU maps. I'm no longer given the option to install full EU to the SD card. I have to select the most appropriate region for a particular trip. Any additional coverage needs to be selected from either MapSource or MapInstall (Basecamp) and installed manually to the SD card.

This is what GE prompts me to do if I wish to make an update or change the current (UK & Ireland) maps installed on my device.

David,
Been putting full EU maps on SD card for some time now. I took some friends to visit Colditz/Dresden a few years ago, and quickly 'popped' across the Czech border as another country visited. Unfortunately I didn't have the right maps at that point and fell off the edge of the world..........

This problem of now having to select a region first occurred with the 2021.20 map update in April 2021.
I posted on the Zumo Users Forum but didn't get a satisfactory answer,

Found this screen shot of what GE used to offer if the maps would not fit on the device's internal memory.
Previously, I'd select
"use a memory card" and install full EU.
This is the option which GE is no longer offering and I have to select a region to install to the device only.

David,I had the issue of the maps not fitting on the device some time ago so installed a SD card and put them all on that. Now it just replaces them on the card although from memory I think GE gives me the option of changing the region. I don't bother, I use the card for maps and store my music on the device.

Hi Steve, how do you install the maps on an SD card and is it full EU or just a particular selected region.

"This would be due to a internal space issue with your device, as the full EU maps are arrowed 19GB in size.
As this is greater than lots of our older sat navs storage space a SD card would be needed to install these.
With mapinstall this allows the maps to be spread between the internal storage and the SD card in the device."
