Newbie On Forum

Post by The Vulcan »

Morning all,

Just bought a new to me 2014 RT - PXing my 09 GS against it and it’s being delivered later this week.

Scouting the threads on here I see a few UKGSer names popping up......

Doubtless I’ll be back later this week with some daft questions for guidance - bike is pretty high spec so bound to get confused on something...

Thanks all,

Eric

These are the BMW seat height options available for a LC RT.

If you want to try a standard seat I'm about 10 miles from you.

I have a slightly longer leg and I can flat-foot with my high seat in the lower position.  Even in the higher position I'm pretty close to flat-footing, so I suspect you might find the high comfy seat manageable.  Good luck !

Hi Martin

I'm up in Lurgan Co. Armagh and I bought a Nov 2016 R1200RT last July. Great bike and I'm pleased with it so far.

I changed from the standard seat to the low seat. I'm "30 inside leg and the low seat in the low position is fine. In fact the low seat in the upper position is also fine.

I haven't really done long runs so I might be able to advise better at some point in the future. My typical run during the summer was circa 75 miles. I'll be heading to the bike Fest in Killarney at the end of May next with 4 other bikes. We did that run in May past when I was on my previous BMW F800 GT.

Enjoy your new bike.
