Top box problem

Post by mondeoman »

My top box is slightly loose on the mounting rail, the rail is tight, the movement is left to right in the horizontal plane about  2cm left/right, I've traced it to the hard rubber blocks attached to the underside of the box are not being pressed hard enough to the rail when clamped by the box handle, my question is this,  before I start wielding tools,  inside the box is what looks like a partial box width false floor, is there any adjustment for the rubber blocks under this false floor ?  anyone got a clue ?

Can we confirm you are talking about your 2013 Camhead?

Sold that 4 days ago for a watercooled 2016 RT LE with just 3000 odd miles, so everything is basically as new Image,  I'll prob' call the motorad dealer tomorrow to see if a tech guy can tell me if there's  any adjustment on the rubber blocks, failing that I'll have to glue some thin hard rubber sheet to the blocks Image.
As a temporary trial today I stuck some 1/8th thick foam to the blocks, reattached the box and bingo, no movement, but of course foam compresses and 30 mins later the movement was back and the foam was flat.
Stand by for the next installment of this saga. Image

If the bike is that new, I'd go to the dealer and see if they can give you some flexibilty on the BMW warranty and see if they will help you out.

I though you had changed your bike. but your personal profile needs changing to reflect your current bike.

BMW motorad dealer was a waste of time, warranty meaninglessImage, still waiting for a delivery of 2mm rubber to hopefully sort it.
