New to forum. Need help with 2019 RT Seat

Post by Ross63 »

I have a 2019 R1250RT and find the seat tilts me forward and is too hard. I've raised the front mounting plate with a few washers which helped a little but the seat is still very uncomfortable. I am 6ft 3in with a 34 inseam and have the seat on the high setting.
My 2016 K1600GT had a seat that I could sit on all day. Do you know if the GT seat would fit my RT or if there are other solutions to make things more comfortable. Thanks. Ross

Russell Day Long expensive option but well worth it.  Sometimes you can fine used ones on eBay.  I know the RT model years 14-19 will fit.

Im 6ft2 33 inseam normal seat on high setting. Did used to find that i would slide forward but since ive bought better textile trousers dont anymore. Used to find seat uncomfortable and used to wear padded cycling shorts. However I happily ride over 400 mile days now and find it comfortable. Bike has over 23,000 miles now.I have also put on a bit of wieght. Lol my advice ride and eat more!!!

@ Ross63 - do you have the 'high' seat or the 'standard' one? The high version is, er, higher, but also more thickly padded. I'm a fraction under 6 feet tall, with a 32-inch inside leg measurement and I can ride all day without any discomfort.

On my previous RTs - hexhead and twin-cam, I had some Touratech Kahedo seats. Absolutely wonderful, but I haven't felt the need for them on the RTLC, the factory high seat is fine for me.

I ordered mine with the high seat as I'm 6ft2in, the normal seat on the test bike made it feel  a little cramped.
I agree with RTs4me the seat does seem to a bit more comfortable due to the small amount of extra padding but its still very firm. I'm getting used to it after a few hundred miles.
I not sure it'll solve the problem of tilting you forward, it may make things worse as the geometry of your body position changes in relation to the bars.
Might be worth asking. a couple of dealers if they've got one that you can try on your bike. The one from the  water cooled 1200 should fit so there must be a few about on used bikes on the forecourts.

Envious! I have been searching almost daily for a secondhand Sargent seat in the UK, and so far found nothing!

What about a gel pad ? a lot cheaper than forking out a lot more money for a new seat that might still not be right .

Thanks for all of the suggestions and comments. I'll see if another 1000 miles makes a difference otherwise I'll look out for a tall seat.

You need to get on UKGSER, there have been two sold in the last 6 months, the last one was only a couple of months ago, nearly pulled the trigger, but decided I have done many miles on the stock seat with no real discomfort, so stick with it.

I found mine on facebook marketplace. Which is irrelevant, annoying and full of crap, but on this occassion I struck lucky.
