Footrest hanger protective tape.

Post by milleplod »

My '06 RT has protective clear tape applied to the footrest hangers - there's the odd mark and tiny blister on them both, so I was going to buy some 3M 'helicopter' tape to replace it with. Then I noticed that each one has a circular cutout to accomodate one of the mounting bolts, which would be impossible to replicate. I've had a good look on RealOEM, but can't for the life of me find the tape listed - I'm assuming it was factory-fit, but suppose it could be aftermarket.
Anyone else have the tape on their RT....or any info regarding replacement?

Hi

I cut some Helitape  for mine  just to stop my boots rubbing.  Just did it to the bits I can get at.

Here's a (blurred!) photo - you can see the edges of the tape (the vertical lines),the semi-circular cutout around the bolt head and the worst of the blemishes in the tape, towards the rear.

Is/was there any tape on there, it's hard to tell from the photo? I intend taking the footrest hangers off mine altogether at the back end of this year to get them powder coated - that's when I'll put some new tape on. I reckon yours need the same treatment!
