How do I get to the top of Europe?

I fancy a quick blast up to Nordkapp taking in as much of Norway as I can. Is there no longer any ferry route direct from the UK? If not what is the best way to get there with the least amount of motorway boredom? I live near Reading

Correct.

From Reading, the nearest UK passenger route would be Harwich to Hook of Holland. Hit the "avoid motorway" button on the sat. nav. & see what it comes up with.
(In 2015, we took the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam (same as H of H), the furthest north we got in Norway was Molde).
