2018 r1200rt oil drain plug torx head size
I'm going to change my oil today but can't quite figure out what torx head size I need to buy for the drain plug. Is it a 50 or a 55? Can somebody provide the answer? Thanks. Jim M.

From what I have read & seen elsewhere, it's a 10mm hex, not a torx, https://www.bmwsporttouring.com/topic/7 ... 4-r1200rt/

Hi. My 2019 1250 is a t55 torx. When reinstalling torque it to 42 Nm with a new crush washer.

After doing a bit more reading on Boxflyers tool list I tried a 10mm allen and it fit perfectly. Looking at the hex, there is a small relief at each corner which must allow the torx to work also. I just changed my oil last week and used the T55 with no problem.

A Camhead uses an 8mm hex, whilst a T50 torx will probably work, it's not as good a fit. The hex sides of the drain plug are definitely flat to accept the 8mm hex tool.
