An Admiral Gesture

Post by David. »

Admiral are giving customers a £25 "Stay at home refund", https://www.admiral.com/stayathome

It only mentions car or van insurance, don't know if they do motorcycle insurance.

Are you in for a refund?

I got free key worker breakdown & recovery off Hastings Direct. Didn't need it as I'm already in the AA. Hey ho! Nice gesture I suppose.
The GS 'is' the better bike :-)

I've sent an email to my broker Carole Nash and posed the question.

"Admiral are offering their customers a £25 Stay at home refund.

Are Carole Nash or my insurer Ageas likely to follow suit with a similar offer."

Copy, paste & edit, then sent to your insurer!

Thanks for the feedback, it's probably going to be a pretty standard reply.

I've seen a figure of at least 1,000 miles quoted, otherwise, you're probably wasting your time contacting your insurer.

Some insurers are waiving their admin. fee when making changes to your policy.

I had the same with Hastings, something they didn't have to do but welcome all the same. As with Simbo, I am already covered but I'm sure there are a few that aren't.

Can the existing cover be cancelled or suspended.

It's full AA breakdown/recovery with our bank account along with worldwide travel insurance, so all part of that type of account. It's very good, used it twice with no problems so far.

"In regards to your email about £25 Stay at home refund which Admiral are offering, we would like to confirm that as a broker, Carole Nash is only able to offer insurance based on suitability according to the Terms and Conditions imposed by your insurer.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer or advise of any money back as this is up to your underwriter and we can confirm that your underwriter did not mention to us about doing something like this."

Knowing Carole Nash, you can bet they will charge you £40 to alter your cover as well.

I did benefit from the Admiral offer not that I have actually seen any cash or credit!

I bought a extended warranty for my 2018 bike in March to start in April and BMW have extended my warranty for two months (which I thought was a nice gesture without asking).

My partner only got the refund yesterday. Turned up in her bank account without chasing it.

When will I get the money?

"We aim to issue all refunds by 31 May. There’s no need to contact us as we'll be in touch over the coming weeks to confirm when you can expect payment."

My car insurer, Churchill, have emailed me asking for my estimated weekly mileage during the lockdown period. When they adjust my annual estimated mileage I may get a refund payable within 30days.
Not heard anything from Bennetts for the bikes insurances.
