I don't know them or never used them, so couldn't comment if true.

Loads of controversy about Hilltop Tuning. Pages of it on UKGSER if you can be bothered. Think nobody is doubting the ability to tune the older models, its the LCs that causes the most controversy. Hilltop claim to be able to put a map on, that nobody else can find, not even BMW and loads of people have had their bike done and found no difference when hooked up to other dynos, but claim seat of the pants improvements. The Treetop lot are a group of tuners that have got together to prove Hilltop tuning is snake oil. The strange thing is, Hilltop have not taken any legal action or tried to refute their claims. Its enough to keep me away, not that my 1250 needs it :)

Yes, I've had my 2012 Camhead remapped at Hilltop and am very satisfied with the results. If I wasn't, I'd have taken it back, had the map removed and got a full refund, that is what Hilltop offer.

Have recently had correspondence with Hilltop about potentially removing the cat. & flap. I think they have been honest with their reply and commenting on more modern bikes.

"Sadly, these days engines are designed to meet such strict regulations on fuelling that they are having to be designed that the cat. is a functional part of the engine as everything needs to work together to get the emissions down. With bikes manufactured from about '17/'18 we are seeing lighter cranks used which gives the throttle a very "on or off" feeling, which is destroying the way most people ride bikes and it is becoming difficult to control them. As a fix for this it is very difficult with fuel alone to get the smoothness back into the engine unless you start looking at major mechanical changes. We are starting to come into an age of "leave well alone" but just make small changes here and there as there is not much to be gained from stock".

Panniers, top box, side stand down and slightly blueing headers-that was an easy 5 seconds worth of differences.

Both bikes have the silencer on the LHS, therefore, not a difference.

Like I said, think the LC engine is the problem, anyone can map older engines, but there might be a little snake oil as regards to the LC engine. I have had many engines mapped, used to race bikes and Caterham 7s, so understand the mapping and dyno run approach pretty well. But the uploading a map that nobody else can see and one size fits all is a little no, more than a little hard to believe, but I will never go there, so not my concern :)
