I don't use ebay, I'd buy a new one from a BMW dealer.

As the TPMS can be retrofitted, perhaps it can be removed.

I've never had TPMS, therefore, can manage without it.

Thanks. Some useful information here. Anyone else have views about whether to buy a used sensor from eBay (rather than new from a BMW dealer)?

Was this during tyre removal or unscrewing the bolt/pin from the TPMS, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F13j0EdA-R0

I'd be asking whoever broke the TPMS to pay for a replacement.

I was told it snapped while attempting to remove the sensor, rather than during tyre removal. An aluminium pin in a magnesium rim is likely to corrode. The pin seems designed to snap in order to preserve the wheel.

I just replaced sensors on my 2011 GS. Bought them new from Ebay. Shrader brand identical to OE BMW sensors at a fraction of the price. Programmed with my GS911. They work perfectly.

These are the units that fit my 2011: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=3631-8532-731&_sacat=0

Edit- If you replace the sensor the balance will not change provided you position the tire in the same place on the rim as before.

Is it the pin or the TPMS that needs replacing, they are separate parts.

Good point. I believe it's only the pin. I had assumed I had to buy both together. Does anyone know if BMW sells the pin separately? (Dealer closed.)

Cheers. The pin is reasonably priced, but postage makes it more expensive than a used replacement off eBay. (I'll use just the pin and keep the sensor as a spare.)

Will the BMW dealer be open from next week, Monday 1st June. My nearest dealer is 36 miles away. When asked they have posted small items like the pin FOC.

For future reference, is a link to the ebay item available, thank you.

Motorworks have used pins for £3.60 plus P&P, https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop ... 0&spPage=2
