Viewing routes in Google Earth

New laptop and I'm still using Mapsource. I know, I'll get around to using Basecamp sometime.
But for now I have a problem.
On my old laptop I used to view the route in Google Earth, to check on minor roads etc,  and I seem to remember when it went to GE Pro I had to delete the word "pro" from the filename to get mapsource to open it.
Well I can't get Mapsource to "see" Google Earth.
Any ideas on how to get this to work?
Thanks
:)

No idea on the above, but give Tourstart.org a go.  I had it recommended to me by Pete ( Milleplod ) and I found it much easier to use, and for the price it's an absolute bargain.

Very similar to GoogleMaps, you just put your start, finish and then drag the route in between to where you want it to go. That simple.

Just like Basecamp.

I've never heard anyone grumble about Tourstart.  ;)

You won't hear me grumbling about BaseCamp and it's free.

My point was, I've heard lots (and lots) of people grumble about it. No doubt there are some, like yourself, who don't. Tourstart is intuitive from the very first time you use it. Horses for courses though!  :)

To answer you question.Google removed the link a couple of years ago, so you can't view your route from Basecamp to GoogleEarth. You can export your route then load it into GoogleEarth. But I have had trouble with this option too sometimes.Another option is to use Google Maps to make your route. Export to a KMZ file & then import that into Basecamp (becomes a track) then create a Route from the track. You can then use the track as a verification on your GPS that the route is correct when driving the route.

Hello, many thanks for all your replies.
We only use GE to check on the "condition" or suitability of a particular route either for our bikes or when we holiday with the caravan.
I can do the same using GE but the advantage with viewing a route from MS is that you can follow the roads easier as the route is marked in purple. Sometimes it difficult to follow the exact route using just GE.
I'll keep trying.
Take care.

I have always used Google Earth to check routes made in MS and BaseCamp. However, Garmin and Google seem to be having a battle to stop users using other software.
I found a solution here https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=616&p=4596#p4596
Mapsource version 6.16.3
BaseCamp version 4.6.2
Google Earth version 7.1.8.3036 as per above.
This all works for me, but do not update any or you will probably be back to square one.Hope this helpsSteve P
