Nav V - very weird

Post by emlevy »

I stopped for breakfast after a short ride yesterday and upon returning to the bike and switching on the Nav, it was displaying a screen I’ve never seen before, almost like a GS screen. The display was divided into multiple sections which showed avg speed, max speed, elevation, GPS coordinates, fuel usage, remaining range, etc. etc. The max speed showed 90 mph and the elapsed time was 2.5 hours, so it wasn’t me! I then noticed a full-kit Harley parked about 50’ away from my RT. My Nav was somehow showing his data (and in a format the Nav V doesn’t provide on an RT). It cleared up once I resumed my ride. Very weird!

Very unlikely it was anything to do with the Harley. (Assuming the Nav V is the same as the Garmin Zumo) It sounds like you might have touched the speed on the main screen which then shows the information you mention. When you get this screen up you will see a menu button in the top left corner which will allow you to reset the data. The screenshots are from a Garmin Zumo XT, but should be roughly the same.[attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

Understood, but there was no map, just a grid like this. And it wasn’t my data.

That's weird because it shouldn't appear on your bike.
That screen is the My Motorcycle screen and is only available on bikes with the LINBus. Not from wifi or Bluetooth. Only '17 and on RT and all LC GS have that, not the bike in your signature.
Did you per chance mount your GPS on someone else's bike?
Ride safe!

That’s a great question and that might make sense, but no. In fact, before breakfast, I removed the Nav and stowed it in the left-side cubby.

Oh well, just one of those things. It’d be nice to have the “My Motorcycle” feature on a ‘15 RT. I’m just stuck as to how it happened and where it came from.
