That is good, I switch between IAM, Principle and Bennetts. There is only normally no more than £20 difference in quotes. I am IAM and RoSPA, it certainly isn't anywhere 35% difference. The IAM garage policy is a bit of a pain, in that the bike isn't covered for damage or theft if the bike is parked on my drive or within 500 metres of my house, but a lot of companies are now enforcing a garage policy if you have one
My latest renewal with Hastings covered for damage/theft on the drive but with a double excess.

I’ve just renewed my insurance, the renewal quote with Bennett’s was £166, went online and got this down to £88 for the same cover and no voluntary excess, £350 compulsory excess, Bennett’s quote included £100 voluntary excess and £350 compulsory. I rang Bennett’s to see if they could match it and they came no where near. I went with the online quote, the online company was.....Bennett’s!!

Just goes to prove that it pays to shop around. Wonder how this is going to change with the new rules coming in.

I don't see much changing, this statement sums it up - Consumers can still benefit from shopping around or negotiating with their current provider, but won't be charged more at renewal just for being an existing customer."

Just did one of my cars, same, original insurer around 30% more than the comparison sites and online quotes from the same company.
