Twin Cam RT Clutch Master Cylinder Re-Build Queries.

Post by Our Gee »

Has anyone been brave enough to Re-build the Master Cylinder on an R1200RT. Mine is a 2011 Twin Cam and I am in the process of Re-Assembling after re-placing the Piston Seals. I have two queries as follows. Firstly, during assembly the Piston is held in place against spring pressure by a plain steel washer which is rather haphazardly "located" in a groove in the Cylinder bore, only securing, at best, on one side of the groove. Secondly, is the Dust Seal which locates around the Lever Rod supposed to be secured in the same Cylinder Bore groove.
There is a video of of this job, albeit on a GS where the Master Cylinder looks to be very similar. This shows the guy pushing the Locking Washer into "place" as I have done on mine and he does seem quite happy. Also on the video the Dust Seal has not been located in the Cylinder Bore groove.
Appreciate it if anyone else has done this job and had the same concerns.
Thanks.
