2017 RT

Post by GPZ »

Hey all, newbie here. :kacsint2:

Just got back from a 5 day, 3500K trip on my 2018 R1200RS and am finally starting to  realize that I am not getting any younger.(63)

The dealer where I bought my RS has a low mileage(6K)  Alpine White 2017 RT that I am going to check out tomorrow.

Any differences/improvements significant or otherwise from 2017 to 2018?

TIA

Hi GPZ,

No, they are exactly the same besides other colours (for example Mars Red is a 2018 colour) and they both have the updated transmission and Euro4 specs.

You can recognize the Euro4 models by the reflector at the front fork (at least in Europe).

Had a R1200RS and a R1250RS and 2 R1200RT LC's and now a R1250RT, and I like the RT a lot more because of the comfort.

Thanks GvG,
I was mostly wondering about transmission improvements if any.

Late to the game, but I think the improvement you are referring to was in the shaft/final drive and that happened between 2016 and 2017.  One thing that was an important point to me was that the lean-angle ABS was standard on all 2018 models.  I believe it was optional on 2017 models.
