Looks like all Akrapovic headers include an exhaust valve (flap),  https://www.akrapovic.com/en/moto/produ ... earId=6200

They are available in SS or Titanium, with or without a catalytic converter. Without a cat., Akrapovic say, "when installing optional headers, remapping the ECU is recommended in order to prevent »check engine light« warning signal and achieve optimized performance and throttle response."

I think the akra headers with cat are for euro bikes. I installed a Remus muffler and want to also install headers but I am concerned about running no cat because of warranty and sound level.

With apologies for hijacking op’s thread, does anyone know if an EU spec cat will work with US gas chemistry? Also, does anyone know if eliminating the cat increases sound level and if so roughly how much?

Is a Remus silencer (muffler) approved for use by BMW warranty, as far as I know, only Akrapovic are.

Pirates' Lair import Remus headers, http://pirateslair.net/remusRT.htm might be worth contacting them for details.

Wunderlich quote a sound increase of approx. 5 db(A) more https://www.wunderlich.de/shop/en/remus ... 301-1.html

From what I have read, fuel (gas) is pretty much the same worldwide, it's just the different ways the octane rating is calculated and displayed at the pump, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf-OYXlhJis Therefore, don't see why an EU cat. won't work with US fuel.

I think the flopper is not IN the muffle per-se, is into the headers already. I just got the slip on muffler

I believe so. Although I purchased and installed the Remus myself I’ve talked with my dealer a bunch about headers and mufflers and they raised no concern. What they said was that to deny a warranty claim on a bike with mods bmw would have to show the mod caused the problem subject to claim.

Thx for info on sound.

Did the dealer have anything to say about fitting Remus headers without a flap.

I believe you would have to fit a servo buddy/emulator, otherwise a warning light will be displayed on the dash.
