Goodbye Pilot Road 4's, hello Roadtec 01 SE's!

My October 2020 RT was supplied from factory with Michelin Pilot Road 4's. I've got 8500 miles from them. Mixed riding, but I try to avoid long motorway stretches (boring!).
They have been 'OK'. Not my favourite tyre, but not terrible. Handling was going off towards the end of their life and the front was a bit 'cupped' and buzzing when leant over.

I've replaced them with Metzeler Roadtec 01 SE's. I've had the earlier generation of 01's on my previous bike and liked them a lot. Let's see how the SE's perform :)

Interesting, I note that the earlier Roadtec 01 is still available and at a good price.

The Roadtec 01's are available in standard or HWM versions, whereas, the 01 SE's are only in one version.

Both the 01's and 01 SE's are marketed by Metzeler as Sport Touring tyres, the latter seem more focused on "The sporty side of touring for supersport and naked motorcycles".

"The main difference is the SE has more rubber in contact with the road at full lean creating a more stable feeling."
