Petrol tank leak

Post by Glenn »

I filled the bike up with fuel this afternoon, more or less straight away I noticed the smell of petrol, sure enough petrol was dripping out from the front left of the tank. I got home and have removed approximately 6 - 7 litres before it has stopped. I plan to remove the fairing panels tomorrow to investigate, is there any where in the West Midlands that repairs fuel tanks?

I've had a look at the fuel pump this morning, it appears that the leak is coming from the fuel pump control unit seal. Removing the controller and the plastic/rubber that covers the bottom has disintegrated

OK it was not the fuel control unit gasket, does anyone know if the fuel pump recall covers for hairline cracks originating from the control unit fixing screw shown on the picture?

Looking back at this thread, BMW R1200RT / R1250RT forum - The BMW R1200RT/R1250RT forum I would say the answer is no.
