Anyone who has washed and polished their bike will understand how frustrating it it on the wet head for water to collect behind the mirrors!

Well today I decided to try and solve the issue thinking it was a blocked drain hole or something only to find they have no drain holes at all

So I drilled some in then washed the bike to test it.

You have to remove the rear cap by sliding it off
[attach=1]

then once it is off you remove the three screws securing the mirror. These are the ones that are not holding the clips on
[attach=2]

you can see where the water collects in the corner!
[attach=3]

I simply drilled a 3.5mm hole in the corner to allow the water to drain
[attach=4]

Once all back together I gave the bike a wash and it works a treat!

I also cleaned all the inside of the mirror casing before putting it back together as I am OCD like that

I haven't washed my bikes in 3 years. My Himalayan is 3 years old and has never seen water. I just use an air gun and the wifes feather duster. Saying all that i think i  may have to wash the RT even if it goes against my rules. After my French trip as the fairing and other bits that stick out have collected millions of strange little creatures.

You needn't worry the mirrors are different on the vintage RTs!
