Siphoning excess oil

[size=19px]Any tips on how to siphon off excess oil? I've tried inserting a slim tube into the oil filler hole and trying to suck up any oil, with no success. Any idea of where the drain hole in the cylinder connects to the sump? I'm trying to avoid the mess of either loosening the oil filter or the sump drain plug. Thanks.[/size]
