Clutch switch / kickstand

I stalled in town at a light ..pulled the clutch in push the button both nothing put it neutral starts .. now can you start it in gear or is this a switch problem. 2015 rt lc
AFAIK, with a gear engaged and the clutch pulled in, you should be able to start the bike. Sounds like a clutch lever micro switch problem.
I presume that the side (kick) stand was not deployed at the time.
