The Halfords oil is a good buy, plus you get 5 litres, 4 for oil change and 1 for topping up if necessary, between oil changes.

Half the price of the BMW (API SL, JASO MA2) stuff, what's not to like about that!

How about this from Smith & Allan for £30, https://www.smithandallan.com/product/s ... e-oil-4120

Both Halfords and Smith & Allan oils are API SN, JASO MA2, therefore meet or exceed the BMW required spec.

Used Smith and Allen fully syn oils for years. I even use their oil in my son's Hayabusa. I've got no complaints. They deliver very quickly as well

At £80 for 20l of S&A oil + ~ £30 for 4 HiFlo filters, that's £110/4 = £27.50 per oil & filter change.

BMW want ~ £70 for oil + ~ £15 for a filter = £85 per oil & filter change, 3 times as much.

Don't forget the sump plug washer, 49p each from Wemoto with free delivery on orders up to £4.99.

https://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/cn-07119963340

Or, £1.14 from BMW.

Even cheaper if you buy a box of aluminum washers from ebay. OK, you get mixed sizes but a box of 100 for £8 delivered is a bargain. I got 30 that are the correct size for the sump plug.

For a Hexhead, the sump plug washer is 16mm x 20mm, GWR Fasteners do a pack of 50 for £2.81.

This pack of 25, 20mm x 24mm copper washers for £7.89 is better value than Wemoto for Wetheads.

Shame they're out of stock. Must be a popular size unless BMW has bought them all
