When touring what added security do you take.When I toured with the VFR1200 Honda did a u-lock that fitted neatly under the seat,along with a disc lock it was enough to make me happy to leave the bike.Do BMW do such a lock or am I looking at Granit and the like,don't really want to lug a huge chain about.Failing that,what security do people take touring.Thanks.

I have never taken anything with me I just choose carefully where I stay and park the bike
check out litelok though and see if these suit your needs
I never lock mine up. If I'm leaving it all night, I'll sometimes put the steering lock on, but that's it.
If someone is determined enough, they'll steal it irrespective of what security I put on it. That's why it's insured.

Similar to Sakm - when I'm planning the trip the bike security is foremost on my mind.
If I'm staying in town I like IBIS Budget hotels as they tend to have secure parking. If I'm out in the sticks I trust that my choice of hotel parking arrangements together with a BMW alarmed disc lock by Abus on the front disc and another alarmed Abus disc lock on the back, the tracker, the bike alarm and immobiliser will do the trick...
I appreciate that a large chain etc. would be better but I just don't have the room to pack one when we're 2-up and on a long-ish trip. With luck the thief will pass on mine and nick Sullivj's instead!

I take a big D lock with me but hardly ever use it, careful choice of hotels to ensure that they have some form of secure or off road parking.
The only exception is when I visit my son who lives in London, then I do lock it (even its just for the day). I don't for a minute think it would stop the professional bike thieves but at least I can tell the insurance company that I made reasonable efforts to secure it.

Think your all missing the point,it's not about secure parking at the hotel you're staying at,it's about what lock's (if any)you take when touring with the bike.Got a fair few years touring all over Europe under me belt and have always secured the bike with an external lock.I know full well they'd nick the bike with the least security.
As I'm sat here doing nothing I've been and found the Hiplok D1000(for some reason I can't post a link on this forum)Think I'll get it if I can find 1 in stock.

My insurance deems have to lock with specific lock got discount with. Happy with two disk locks which comply.

Oxford Revolver. I can chain the bike to a post or another bike. Or, just use it on a wheel.
Not light but I can strap it to the pillion seat for travelling.
