Hello from Michigan
Just picked up a 14 RT after 20 nearly riding Honda ST's. First 130 miles home left me smiling.
Still concerned about the maint. Honda has bullit proof.
Look forward to getting to know the bike.

I also switched to a 2015 RT after about 20 years on an ST1100 and an ST1300. Absolutely loved both ST's but wanted some of the extras the RT offered. I expect maintenance will cost more than the ST's (as they cost almost nothing in over 180,000 km's total), but the RT is so much fun that I think I'll put up with it. Besides, it's my kids inheritance I'm spending now! I'm sure you'll love your new RT. Fabulous piece of machinery!

Welcome to the forum. Maintenance on these bikes doesn't have to be wallet busting as these engines are a DIYer's dream. The engine is more or less with tweaks still from the 1923 R32 bike. Mostly you only some basic tools to service the bike.

So after a weekend of amazing mid 70 deg weather.( rare in mi in Oct) The wife and I decided to take off Sat AM for a color tour of west mi.
650 miles later and back home on Monday,
A few things came through clear, BMW has a much better wind tunnel than Honda has. There is litterly no buffeting. Fuel economy. 5 to 8 miles better.. the weight difference from ST1300 is awesome!
All in all i am sold!! The honda is still smoother though and i will miss the turbine engine power.
Not to say the boxer is bad but its different for sure.
Oh ya, electronic cruise is amazing..

Glad you're enjoying the bike. A twin cylinder engine will never be as smooth as a V4. Never owned an ST and it's interesting to hear the comparisons.

The ST to RT route appears to be a natural progression judging by the numbers on the forum that have taken that path, myself included -
