Got any questions about the BMW's R1200RT/R1250RT's onboard audio, Bluetooth or the Electrical system?

Aux power sockets

Post by Dreadnought »

Evening all,
Admittedly I'm new to this whole BMW lark and a few things are "different" but what heck do you use the Aux Power Sockets for, and the bike has two of them?

Cheers

Heated jackets. Charging phones. Plugging lamps into when camping. Plugging canbus-ready chargers in.

Anything that needs 12v whilst on the move.

Amazon. It’s a common plug.

It’s called a Hella plug.

The only thing i need a socket for is to run my compressor. Apparently I have to run it from the battery as these sockets can't supply enough current. I'll connect a 15 Amp manually resettable breaker to the battery to feed the socket with a usable amount of power. Now to check the current rating of the bmw sockets.... does anyone have that info handy?
I will use the 12V wire that used to go to the outlet and run it to the tail light enclosure to power my new LED tail lights so the CANBUS doesn't have an error.... error... error.... error...
