E-Torx vs Metric Tools

Are E-Torx spanners or sockets absolutely necessary or will a Metric (mm) size be close enough.

I might be looking for an E8 spanner, the point to point is 7.5mm. Would I get away with an 8mm metric spanner/socket on this small head size.

The bolt is an M6 x 25mm.

Once removed, could be replaced with a flange hex screw with a 10mm hex head.

Might just "push the boat out" and get a set of these. (Silverline 241501).

I'm always of the opinion that you always use the correct tool, this probably stems from getting my knuckles wrapped with a 12" / 300mm steel rule for using the incorrect ones during my trade apprenticeship

Following your good sound advice, have ordered a set of the Silverline Trx Spanners from OnBuy.com.
