Am sure one of my 80s bikes had an extra hole in the center stand. Could never work out what it was for. Bit like the old Vestpa's that had a loop attached to the righthand side of the handlebars. Took me years what it was for

That looks tidy!, I’ve got mine off at the moment with the intention of brush painting with smoothrite…

, I’m thinking powder coating is the way to go but a quote I had from one place was £40!!.
I’ve taken the main rubber off ok but did you remove the other one ?, if so how please ?, if it’s the thin nut I think mines seized .

Yes everything has to be removed if powder coating as its baked at about 400 degree's

Mine came out pretty easy with the right sized spanner on it!

A 16mm spanner shifted it ok!, I ended up painting it with smoothrite and a brush… it’s a lot better than it was so I’ll pop it back on ( with some cursing of the springs!) and then have it coated properly in the winter.

I was amazed to find the 2 pivots for the stand seem to be made of plastic ?.

Yes I was but maybe BMW have learnt that anything else just seizes over time

Well it seems to on a bmw anyway

. So £8.50 for a 250ml tin of black and now £9.99 for a spray can…. Half the price of having powder coated in the first place

Love the idea, I have a welder and would do the same but seems alot of work however like you if I had the centre stand off for any reason I think I would do that. Well done for the posting.

Did you ever keep any measurements/sketches after designing this marvellous piece of mechanical wizardry Sakm?

I’ve recently come into possession of a spare centrestand and can hopefully get it made up locally, as I have no welding gear and my ‘O’ level metalwork skills are now a distant memory!

Unfortunately not!

I cut and shaped the metal then tacked it on and tried it till it fit then I fully welded it
