Here’s a photo I’ve posted on another thread. In this shot I’ve got halo lights and very bright yellow accessory lamps on as well as the Hi-Viz. I appreciate that I’m at an angle, not straight on.

If you was riding down the road towards me and I was at a junction it would be the lights

As I was some distance away, yes agreed. But the closer I get the less you will see the lights, as per pic

Unfortunately its not an easy one you can answer looking at a pic as its not moving!

first of all you would need to rely on people actually looking first which seems to be the issue these days!

You could be in the biggest brightest vehicle with flashing lights but if no one looks at you they won't see you

I once read an article on this sort of thing and it concluded that the majority of people are in such a rush that they are looking for it to be clear so that is what they expect and also they have to physically look at an object to see it and a quick glance is not enough

I've dabbled with Hi-Vis clothing over the years and really the only conclusion I can make is that it doesn't matter how many lights you have on or how much of your person is covered in dayglo/ reflective material if the car driver isn't looking then they're not going to see you!!!
I tend to treat everyone as idiots and avoid them as much as possible.
There is a saying that goes " the difference between a cyclist and a motorcyclist is that the cyclist thinks his health and safety is everyone's responsibility and that motorcyclist thinks that everyone is a paid assassin out to kill him" never a truer word spoken.

My wife frequently complains of the cyclists who choose to ride in ‘stealth mode’ (their words) with black/dark clothing and no lights, which to my mind is just stupid. They can (and do) shout about their right to do so, but it can still end up with them being injured in a collision.

Getting back to motorcyclists - I do agree with the post re. pink H/V because it’s different and would stand out against the sea of Saturn Yellow jackets out there. Who knows it may even get the driver to take a second look. Mind you I don’t think pink is really my colour, although it may probably match my eyes!
