Pannier protection

I have already damaged the paintwork on the panniers of my new 1250RT, getting my leg over (ooh er missus). Any advice on repair and protection much appreciated!

This film is available from Nippy Normans and others, it’s a bit of a fiddly job but does protect the paint.
If you want to do the job properly then there are various companies out there that will do all the painted and vulnerable surfaces on your bike providing far better cover and protection whilst saving you the time and trouble. Once on it’s virtually invisible -

Tip. Put your bike into Rain mode for the last bit of your ride. It lowers the rear suspension thus giving a bit more clearance over the top of the pannier when you swing your leg over.

Hmm, tried the NN paint protector film today and not at all impressed. About 10 times more difficult than fitting a phone screen protector. Impossible to get rid of all the little creases and to get the top sheet to meet the side sheet without any gaps. Looks terrible.Not even convinced it is the right model, although claims it is.

Did you spray the pannier with water then squeegee it all out once in position?

Yes, sprayed pannier,did it on a warm day. No idea what the instructions mean by a squeedge, but I put cloth round the piece of plastic included and tried to squeeze out the creases and bubbles. Unsuccessfully.

Sounds like you used too much water. You can get rid of the water bubbles but using a heat gun or hair dyer. Prick the center of the bubble with a craft knife the heat the area with heat and the bubble should disappear.
