Sat Nav eject button sticking

My sat nav eject button is sticking.

Can I access it by removing the screen and the top plate ?

Known issue as the weather gets colder, it's only plastic. I used to just spray silicon spray on it, although it would always depress, but not spring back, so just used to us my finger to reset it. But yes you can get to it if you remove the screen and the top cowling

what is with those stupid plastic screws at the bottom of the cover on the sat nav eject cradle. What screwdriver bit will fit , can they be replaced with metal screws?

Having watched my Navigator pop out twice whilst riding ( luckily caught it before falling to the ground ) I too am liberal with the silicone spray to make sure eject system slides better.

Why did bmw choose to use plastic screws on the bottom of the sat nav cradle cover?

Do they have plastic nuts behind, and can you use metal fasteners instead?

Might grind down a suitable size phillips screwdriver to get them out.

Been the same since 2014, has never cause any issues on 2 bikes, or 5 fleet bikes. So guess they do the job fine, its not like you take the cowling off every week.

If you loosen the two screws on the top of the cowling you can manipulate the cowling by pushing and pulling until the button pops out. Then tighten the screws back up with the cowling in this new "position".

Whilst looking at this post it got me wondering. As I’ve just fitted a Zumo xt2 with the 3DAM adapter, could this happen on mine. It has been a bit sticky of late. I’m thinking of fitting the Wunderlich locking plate that works off the central locking but I can’t confirm that it will work. Looking at it I can’t see why not but before I commit another lump of cash can anyone advise if they’ve fitted one. I have emailed Wunderlich and they didn’t have a clue what the 3DAM adapter was.

1) Try the Old Timers satnav lock, identical but less expensive.

2) I use a 3DAM adapter with my Tomtom and the O/T lock. I ‘can’ get the Tomtom off the 3DAM while it’s locked, but it’s difficult and tbh I would only leave it on there whilst I paid for petrol, any other time I’ll put it in the pannier.

Thanks for the info. As long as the adapter is locked in place I’ll be happier. When in position it is possible to release the Zumo but it’s not easy. I think I can manufacture a cover given some time.
