R1200RT Autotrader

Post by EasyRider »

Came across this R1200RT for sale on Autotrader.
It's a little bit hight in price, but its as near to a used new bike out there.
If i had not already found and bought my R1250RT i think i would of bought this one.
2018, 1 owner with 1930 miles on the clocks and it a very good spec to.
Granted its a 6 year old bike now, but its still a good buy with 2 years warranty.
It also has a top box and sat-nav which are worth £700 on there own to buy used.
The way i look at it with that mileage and spec, is you are getting a very lightly used £20k bike for half price.
And its a nice colour.......

Looks like it sold on its first day.
£10,495 was not a bad price for the miles it has done.

My wife said the same thing lol, and you are both right.
I am selling a couple of mine this year to make some room as we have 8 bikes between us.
I really only need 3. My summer bike, My winter bike and my dream bike.

What’s going on with prices….. I have a 2020 1250RT, immaculate condition 12k miles, dealer offered me £10k trade in against a second hand K1600!

Does mileage effect price that much on a touring bike

Where do you guys go for price guides?

Oh yes it does.
Traded my 2016 1200RS with 54,500 on the clock. Bike was immaculate, never out in salt, rarely used in rain, fully serviced by BMW and new parts as and when needed. Lovingly cleaned polished and fettled by myself constantly. £4000 was the best offer against a £12,500 RT !!

Low trade is due to the RS being not as popular as a RT. It's the forgotten Boxer. Looking through the BMW sales, the RT sells five to one RS

Dealer told me it was due to high mileage and he would not keep it in his showroom.

At 54k the bike is only just run in. People worry way too much about higher millage bikes. As long as it has a full service history and not falling apart, it is worth buying. Just look at some of the mileage Americans ride their bikes

I totally agree. The bike was immaculate and fully serviced. Just spent £650 on a left fork stanchion that would not stop leaking no mater what, five oil seals, BMW kept telling me it was normal !
I liked the bike well enough, did a 4000 mile trip to Europe last summer but traded it because of the mileage.

From your pictures it is a bargain at £4000 for the trader. He/She would probably stick an extra £2000 to sell
It seems anything close to 15000 miles only gets sold as trade bikes in the UK.
