It is actually DOT4 LV (Low Viscosity).
This is what is specified now for bikes back as far as early 1990’s R-series as well as others.
What’s stamped on the reservoir cap won’t be updated, but specifications from BMW are changed from time to time.
You can keep up to date with your particular model bike’s fluids and consumables here.

When and if you buy brake fluid at Halfords online, DONT rely on what the ad is saying.

I ended up being told i was wrong because i bought the wrong DOT4 brake fluid, and being told it was my mistake.

When i read the ad for the brake fluid this is what it said.

So would you have bought this going by the info on there website if you needed a " Low viscosity brake fluid ".......

I have to say i'm a little bit miffed with Halfords and my local store.

Thats what i did after i picked it up from Halfords, and why i returned it.

This is the first problem i've had with them, But its the being told its my fault for buying the wrong one that got my back up.
I rang up halfords customer care and told them what happened and how i was treated. but i dout anything will come of it.
