Hi

I just received my new to me 2023 RT and I am looking at crash bars. I have Ilium on order, but found the T-rex bars. I was comparing mountain points, as I feel that more mountain points, prevent the bars to flex or move with a tip over or slow speed slide. Material wise, they both use 1 inch steel.

T-rex fromt: 3 connection points
T-rex back: 4 connection points

Ilium: back and front, 2 connection points

I know you can remove the ilium rears, but I doubt I would ever do that.

Can you easily do an oil change with the T-rex bars installed just like the Ilium?

Does anyone had the misfortune of dropping their bike with the T-Rex crash bars installed and can you share your experience?

Yes, I canceled my ilium works and will be installing these at half the price. I’ll have to see how the clamping to the silver frame for the swingarm will work. I hope it will not scratch or damage that.

You'll be fine. If worried try some low tack painters tape

I'm very happy with the T-Rex bars on my '08. They were fairly easy to install and I believe they will hold up well in the event of a tip over. Oil change is easy, as the front bars have a provision to take off a section of the bar to access the oil fill. Works really slick! Highly recommend them!

Quick update as I received the crashbars. In hindsight I should have kept my ilium works order as the welding and powder coating quality looks rough. One of the plates was damaged, so I assume they will send me a new one.
