Rear Mudguard Badge?

Post by Howelligan »

Just below the screw for the mudguard adjustment there's a moulded rectangle with a hole at either end, which looks like it may be intended for something to be attached there. Given that from behind there's nothing visible that shows it's a BMW, I'm wondering if it is pethaps intended to take a BMW Badge.
Does anyone know if this is the case, or otherwise what it's for?
If it is fir a badge, I think I'm going to need to find one to put there.🤔

BMW offer a rear fog light kit for their bikes and it's probably law somewhere that they're fitted standard. The illustration below doesn't show how it's fitted but if you are going to fit one, the bottom of the mudflap is the obvious spot. Ditto if the law demands an additional reflector.

I suspect it's case for BMW that it's easier to make a univeral mudguard than to make a separate mudguard for the markets that say you've got to have a fog light as standard equipment.
