Down side to weight loss

Post by burridge01 »

I have lost a lot of weight and its changed the RT's riding experience. Took the bike out yesterday for a decent run and found meself sliding round the seat, previously me fat arse kept me in one place, now I can't sit still and its bloody annoying. I have ordered some sort of seat cover that someone linked on the forum, hopefully it will solve that issue.
Next,as I'm sliding round I think the bars are now to close(raised)My sides were aching after 30 miles, will be on the phone tomorrow to rent the tool again.
Last but not least, even though I have lowered pegs I found it a bit cramped,no idea how to solve that issue as I already have a high seat(maybe put all weight back on)
When I was a porker the bike was set up perfect, now I'm getting the feeling ,maybe the RT will have to go unless putting the bars back to standard solves the back issue.Got 2 big rides coming up in June and I'll struggle with the bike as it is.

On a positive note, after parting with £550 at Cambridge Lambretta I stopped off in St Ives and had a coffee n roll by the river, did a bit of people watching in the sunshine, it was bloody lovely 😍

I'll come back to me thread in a couple of weeks and have a read of what is hopefully a bit of hysterics on my behalf, hopefully.

Now your just showing off

No idea of your budget or direction with bikes, but is it worth having a go on some of the newer models - like the R1250RT before you start spending money on this one?

Well done on the weight loss, it’s something myself and wife would like to do, for me it’s my stomach and I now wear 40” waist trousers with braces, I’m very self conscious  , since last year I’m finding I’m cramped with the wife on pillion. I like my food and we like our drink  .

I tried the standard seat briefly but hated it after using a Sargent which has a much better platform shape despite being hard, you could try the tribo seat cover that’s non slip, that should sort your sliding around. I was going to try the bar risers but feel the stock position is good. My legs do feel cramped after the st1300 but I don’t fancy the peg lowering kit incase I can’t get the gear shifter positioned properly.

Don't worry Panman, your waist size is a target for me.I piled the lard on after me accident 2 years ago(and when I gave up smoking 7 years ago) It only hit home when the specialist physio for my leg said I was to fat to get in there hydro pool.l'll tell you how much I weighed in a couple of months but I can guarantee I was the fattest on this forum by a country mile, now it is coming off with 5 visits to the gym every week.

Back to the bike.Have ordered the handlebar tool from Mike at Sportouring(very nice chap to deal with)Hopefully that's going to help and something I only thought of this morning, as I've lost the weight I've gone down 5 trouser sizes and had to buy a cheapish pair of Richa trouser as a stop gap, maybe there adding to the issue, sliding round the seat.
Hopefully the tool will do the job :thumb:

Well, the Richa trousers are on there way back, absolutely rubbish.Have ordered 6 pairs of varying makes and sizes to try on at Sportsbikeshop Harlow branch tomorrow, something has got to fit.
The bars have been off,on,off and back on but pushed further towards the screen.
In the meantime, me seat cover thingy from Temu has turned up and fits(after i worked out why the seat wouldn't lock)perfectly, even with me Touratech seat.

Hope this sorts the issue out,me injury is of course not helping but thats a cross I'll have to bare if I want to carry on with 2 wheels :thumb:

As an aside I had to make the order up for free(I think  )postage.Got a 100 pairs of nitrale gloves for £3.21.Im going to order some more of them, perfect fit, thick yet still a sensitive feel(must take some of you older lot back to the barber days,"something for the weekend sir" )Well worth the money :thumb:
