Re: Exhaust header studs snapped!

I appreciate your lack of welding equipment and knowledge of but I believe that a nut fitted over the stud and welded on the inside is the way to do it.

Re: Exhaust header studs snapped!

Have the studs sheared off flush with the head or is there any stud left to which a nut could be welded on.

The current BMW recommended viscosity range is 15W-50. The Rider's Manual gives 5 different ranges, none of which are 15W-50.

It's also semi-synthetic when fully synthetic maintains its' viscosity better at higher temperatures.

Re: Oil Temp Gauge, how high is too high?

IMO, below the 3rd tick (3/4) doesn't sound abnormal. Looking at the BMW Rider's Manual, there are no other warnings linked to the oil temperature. If this was deemed by BMW to be critical, like oil pressure and/or level, perhaps additional warning might have been provided. What is the engine oil vi...

Re: Your Motorcycling Training/History Etc.

I didn't have a moped (at age 16) and started with a Honda C90 at 17 years old. 1975/76 completed the RAC/ACU training scheme and passed my test. Went on to become an instructor for same scheme. From memory, the RAC/ACU scheme folded and was replaced by the Star Rider (NMTS). I seem to remember bein...

Re: Which fuel

The comparison between Tesco & BP (both E5) fuel over the same 100 miles with the cruise control set at 70 MPH.

Returned 59.9 MPG & 64.6 MPG respectively, using the physical full to full method.

Re: Which fuel

Having done a measured test between Tesco Momentum and BP Ultimate, BP returned 7.8% better mpg than Tesco.

IMO, the likes of Shell V-Power and BP Ultimate give better mpg than supermarket fuels.

BMW recommends BP fuels.

Re: 09 RT - mystery connector

This video shows where the optional extras socket is on a Camhead, it's likely to be the same on a Hexhead.

This is the BMW service schedule for a Camhead, it'll be similar if not the same for a Hexhead.
