Clutch Replacement - 2009 R1200RT
Greetings Everyone, After experiencing clutch wear issues late this riding season, I have decided to replace the clutch on my own in an attempt to save a considerable amount of cash. I may also attempt the fuel strip while the bike disassembled. I feel confident that this job is within my abilities ...

Re: Finally happened “fuel gauge “
As I think about this, one of the worst thinks about this situation is watching the darn warning flash on the display. But, not quite as bad as BMW not taking better care of their base. I realize that they did make the fix available to a lot of owners but wish that some type of notification was sent...

Re: Never be Nervous about Maintaining your Final Drive !.
That's actually quite an amazing video. Like a well-oiled machine, honestly. Funny voices though...they sound like gerbils (lol).
One thing for sure, I wish my knees could still bend like that!

Re: Finally happened “fuel gauge “
What type of warranty come with the new fuel strip? That should be an indication of how much faith that BMW has in it. I was not aware that the fuel strip was an issue until it went out on my rt and I began to research. It is concerning that BMW did not offer me an option for the repair as a good bu...

Re: Finally happened “fuel gauge “
Just shy of 40K. Doesn't seem like a lot for the clutch, but I have been rough on it while loading it into the back of my toy hauler camper. Have smelled it burning several times, and the engagement is at the very end of the throw on the lever. I have since mounted an electric winch to pull the bike...

Re: Finally happened “fuel gauge “
Greetings, The fuel strip went out on my 09 RT while on a trip last Fall. Panicked at first because I thought that the bike might shut down. Have been clocking my miles since, and keep the bike topped off. A minor pain in the arse, but not the end of the world. One possible downside to doing this is...

Thanks for the replies. Happy Veteran's Day for those that have served their County.
Was in Chicago and saw a few motorbikes on the highway. Temps there were in the upper 60s and low 70s. Not so much here in Wisconsin. 28 degrees this morning. I won't be riding today.
Regards....

RT Owner since 2011, new to any BMW Forum
Greetings Everyone, Bought my first and only RT in 2011 and have been riding it since. Live in northern Wisconsin where the riding season is relatively short. So usually ride to the southern part of the country once a year. Otherwise, daily riding and motorcycle club (Blue Knights) events. Hope to b...
