Re: New to forum. Need help with 2019 RT Seat
I ordered mine with the high seat as I'm 6ft2in, the normal seat on the test bike made it feel a little cramped. I agree with RTs4me the seat does seem to a bit more comfortable due to the small amount of extra padding but its still very firm. I'm getting used to it after a few hundred mil...

I said that when I bought my last bike three years ago. Still went out and bought another. I said it again this time, the salesman just smiled.

Re: Lovely day for a ride out
80 odd mile round trip to visit the mother in law who's in hospital after a fall down the stairs. Ride out of sorts, stuck to A roads which unfortunately most of which seem to have been designated 50mph limits. What a waste of the councils time. A423 in Warwickshire posted 50mph restriction, Oxfords...

Re: RT1200 LE (2017) - pannier liners wanted.
I'm still using my old shape K1300GT liners from this guy in the new shape RT LC boxes. Seem to be fine and, because they are a lightly different shape, leave a few nooks and crannies for things you want to leave on the bike when you take them into the hotel. Been using them for...

Re: Here we go - 1250 Calliper issues
I'll keep an eye on mine and ask the dealer about it at the running service. How many cases need to be reported for it to be treated as safety recall? My GS was subject to the fork recall, got a letter through telling me that I needed to contact the dealer and arrange a prompt inspection. Got it ins...

Re: Retired or about to retire?
In 2010, aged 51, I retired from a 35 year career in the iron & steel industry on Teesside. Purchased my first RT in 2007, now on my third, therefore, the RT came before being r e t ired. You were still only three years from retirement when you bought it though. I bought my first RT in 1991 whe...

Retired or about to retire?
Just been reading/ posting on the touring section. I notice that several people mention being retired or about to retire. It made me wonder, does RT ownership go hand in hand with retirement or is it simple that retired people have a bit more free time to pursue their interests (which happens to be ...

Re: Mandatory speed limiters
http://www.drivingexpert.co.uk/all-about-active-speed-limiters.html My understanding is that the speed limits are incorporated into the mapping software that the sat nav uses. If they've changed the speed limit on a particular road since the last map update then it gets it wrong. On my Gar...

Mandatory speed limiters
Watching the BBC News this morning, they covered a story about all vehicles all be fitted with speed limiters in the UK from 2022. They talked about cars and lorries but didn't mention motorbikes. However, the article on their website states all vehicles. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-4771541...

Re: Ordered a new R1250RT today
Had a 2005 1200 RT for 7 years. Brilliant bike, which I used for commuting and touring Europe. Only problem I had was the fuel strip which left me stranded me 2 miles from work when I didn't realise I had no fuel left. You're not missing anything it's an excellent bike which is a pleasure ...

Extended Warranty
Took out the extended warranty on my last bike in September last year. Paid up front because I presumed I'd be keeping it. I thought you could only cancel if you paid in instalments so when I traded in last week expected to lose half the policy. However, flicked through the terms and conditions book...

Re: R1250RT/ Nav V
I don’t know about the new one, I have a 2014 LC with a Nav V - you can use the wheel to switch between screens and also zoom in/out. I’ve also found it very useful while travelling to quickly zoom out to check out the route and terrain. I’ve chosen the sat nav part of the menu as the favourite sho...
