Re: Insurance - once more probably :-)

Couple of points to look out for are:- most motorcycle insurance now only cover new for old replacement for the first six months (used to be 12 months)As it's nice and new you might want to consider GAP insurance. Some insurance policies (the one I have) requires you to tell them if you go overseas ...

Re: Wild Atlantic Way

Fingers crossed with the weather, keep us posted on progress. I am going in a few weeks time (avoiding the 12th July of course),Rossaire all the way round to Belfast on the WAW. What tyres are you running on (I can see they aren't Z8's Tech 01s or RP4 s)

Re: Safety on the road

It's illegal to filter in Germany and cars will try to stop you, they don't like you going to the front on the queue at the traffic lights. You often see them just sitting in traffic on the A1 after getting off the ferry:-)

Re: Garmin Nav 6 'My Motorcycle' App

I have 2018 bike without audio, has anybody had this retrospectively updated on the RT and successfully seen "my motorcycle" on the Nav6?

Re: rt1200rt ex police 2008 12 v auxillary convertors

Good information, the Hornig one looks a good option, I have used my repair kit a few times on the road but was thinking of carrying a small foot pump as a back up as well.

Re: rt1200rt ex police 2008 12 v auxillary convertors

You can't run a pump off these outlets in my experience, the can bus wiring system will not allow

Re: Retirement

Dealer network is comprehensive, you could also look a BMW assist package depending on age and millage of the bike for complete peace of mind while travelling. It's 24/7 and covers all manner of incidents, you will still need personal travel insurance on top. When travelling if you have a issue and ...

Re: 500+ mile days.

As long as you stop, take a walk every two hours, are hydrated and your concentration levels are 100% high millage days get you to the places and roads you want to be on. I watched Teapot One (YouTube Volger) on a new BMW 1250GS come off a night shift and attempt a long ride, the bike broke down and...

Re: Gearchange Assist

2018 bike

Use it from 2nd all the way up but you need to give some throttle, coming down it's lovely all the way....
It's not meant for round town traffic! On the R1250 it is smoother but not much.

In the words of Barron Von Grumble "the GS is a great tool, just like some of the people who ride them" civil enough?

Re: No throttle on 2015 R1200 RT LC

I can see the sence in this, as you wouldn't want the throttle to be confused and in the wrong position on starting....I hope the bar riser is worth the hassle?
