Indeed, the GS bars are original BMW bars. However, if they were not fitted the damage to the head could have been a show stopper. The plastic guard broke in two. Sometimes the rubber oil filter o-ring can be left behind and stick the engine, so effectively you end up having two o-rings. This could cause a weep.

A nice 1150gs, up to 2002 with the black finished engine and gearbox so as to avoid servo brakes, twin spark engine and deteriorating build quality.
I run my 1200RT along side my 1150gs. If I want a more involving ride I take the gs.:-)

It's a worry if the dealers got it wrong though!

On my 2011 twin cam I fitted a mudflap to the front of the inner rear mudguard. The result is less road crap flung at the rear stand, exhaust clamps and the lower shock/mount. Agree using genuine BMW filters or Mahle filters. I fitted a hiflo filter to my old R1100RT. Browsing through another forum revealed other folk had issues trying to remove them.
