2013 RT performance upgrades

Post by PKLA1 »

New to the streetbike world. Bought a used 2013 RT. Really like the bike, handles really well!
Been riding 2 stroke dirtbikes for years, missing the snap! I know there is no comparison, not looking to rip or do wheelies!
Just would like a little more snap, a little cleaner throttle response.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Buy a 2014 LC bike and put it in Dynamic Mode. :)

I wish I could have, but couldn't pull it off at the time. Everything i've read and seen, all the upgrades are really good!

You can spend a small fortune on it but it won't make much if any difference.  At the end of the day it's a full on touring bike that just hsndles like it's not .

That's a great way of putting! My sentiments exactly. We really enjoy riding our bike!

full system + tune might net you a few hp, but far from worth the investment imo

Depends where you are but a remap of the ecu gets a lot of good feedback. Hilltop Motorcycles seem to be the place of choice in the UK. Very popular with the R1200GS crowd.
You can also go down the performance header pipes and end can route or the Power Commander or AF-XIED.
Google will get you lots of information.
I enjoy my RT as it is though :-) .

I agree, leave them alone and don't line other people's pockets for very little reward.

Just wanted to let everyone know, after doing a little more reading, I purchased a Booster Plug. Richened up the bike just enough, suprisingly bumped up the fuel mileage a mile or 2 per gallon, which I've read others have commented too. As for power, maybe a little stronger, a little more torque. I'm happy with it. $145

When you say "richened up", does it do away with the occasional stumble from idle?  This is my only real gripe about my 2013 RT.

Contact MAB Power in Germany, who may have a turbo kit for your bike - should give 160 BHP easily plus huge torque increases all the way through the rev range. Not cheap!
