Huge rucksack modification..2005 r1200rt

Post by smeke »

Has anyone ever removed the baseplate and mounted another tank bag to it??  What were all the steps involved and what was the final outcome???  Thanks!

Haven't done it myself, but here's a thread from BMWLT with someone who has, https://www.bmwlt.com/forums/rt-series/ ... epair.html

I did not remove the rack , I just modified an old tank bag I had and strapped it to the rack. a few rivets and some cheap clips and strapping from Amazon it works great :)

Stole the idea from this bag I say on Ebay from Russia  [attachimg=1][attachimg=2]

I like it!  Looks like a cortech strap bag.  Would love to see close up photos of the rear and front attachments.  Also a description of the clips/straps from Amazon??  Where were any rivets used...maybe toward the front of the bag to run a strap under the rails?  A lot of questions, I know, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for any help,

So I had an old Cortech magnetic tank bag , I pulled out the magnets , I riveted 4 clips to the upper part of the bag and had my wife sew the clip on one end of the strap then riveted to the bag and fabric glue and a bit of heat to bond it all together.
it is expanding so I can adjust the straps to the height of the bag.
There is a hard plastic ring around the the top of the bag below the zipper ,
