Took my mate up to Motolegends via some twisty backroads… a pleasant day out.

Their coffee is very good, plus he bought some of the new Held boots, which are a close copy of Daytonas but a good bit cheaper.

Hi Steve, those look very good, I’ve been looking for a used pair Daytona roadster gtx boots for a while now with no joy but just took a punt on a pair this morning, good condition looking at the pics and good soles, I’m normally a 44 /10 but my feet are slightly swollen these days with meds and these were a 45 /10.5 uk so hopefully they fit , if so not to bad at £130 plus post.

I ended up buying the Daytona Travel Star Pro. The Daytona are a great boot and feel good to walk in as well as riding.

So the boots arrived. Very pleased with them. Going to treat them but what’s the best thing to put on plastic zips ?.

Beautiful ride with the Nashville Club yesterday. I did 300 miles, up to Land Between the Lakes, between the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers to a marina restaurant. The back road route had a surprising amount of nice twisty roads that really gave me and the bike a good workout! It was the first chance I've had to get the bike on some decent twisty roads and finalized my desire for new tires. The old Bridgestone Battlax tires are almost worn out, a bit flat in the middle, and I had to push a bit to get the bike turned in properly. They rode fine crossing the USA on the interstate, but aren't any good on the curves any more (if they ever were).
I made an appointment to get new Michelin Road 6 GTs installed next week. I've got some trips coming up, including through the Appalachian mountains. So I'm looking forward to seeing the difference.

Got a "free" overnight stay courtesy of Hotels.com. So took a trip over to Aberystwyth.
Stop in Rhayader for a bowl of lamb cawl.

We got out on the bikes today. What a lovely day it is to.
We jumped on the M4 to Bristol. Stopped at Fowlers as i wanter to look at a Versys 1000 they had.
We then went up to the cafe there and had some chips and a coffee.
It also cost me £200 as the wife saw a helmet she liked, so i brought it for her as its her birthday in 2 weeks.
We then got back on the M4 to Chepstow and road the back roads to Abbergavenny. We stop there for a coffee and then road the last 15 miles home.
We both had a great ride and i did not drop Artie this time

I had new tires put on my bike. Based on all the good reviews, I got Michelin Road6 GT tires. Rising home afterwards, the difference in handling was amazing! Previously, I had to push to get the bike to turn due to the flat centers on the tires. Now, I barely have to think about turning, and the bike does exactly what I want!!

Of course, negotiating 30 miles through Nashville morning traffic to get to the dealership was a royal PITA! I had about 45 minutes of stop and go, 3-5mph riding feathering the clutch and rear brake on the expressway. If the clutch wears out, that will be why!! Coming home before lunchtime was a speed limit plus ride all the way!

But, the new tires are great!

Managed to get out for an hour today, the new ( used) boots are a bit disappointing, a little tight around the ankles but very hard to change gear getting them to bend to get my toes under and over the lever, do these Daytona boots loosen up at all ?, also no real feel for the lever either and noticed how much heavier they are compared to my ancient RST boots.

Lovely day out today. Round trip through the Fens in glorious sunshine and 17 degree temp.

Incidentally, there's a great place for breakfast just South of Ely. Try Amelie's Cafe at Ben's Yard. Plenty of parking, extremely well prepared full English and proper coffee. What's not to like?

Managed to get out for an hour today, the new ( used) boots are a bit disappointing, a little tight around the ankles but very hard to change gear getting them to bend to get my toes under and over the lever, do these Daytona boots loosen up at all ?, also no real feel for the lever either and noticed how much heavier they are compared to my ancient RST boots.

I had to lift the gear changer up on my Varadero because of the Daytona boots being a bit thicker. We both brought a pair just for winter use. We both went half a size up because we wear thick winter socks with them.

I've had mine for over 20 years. I don't think they have loosened at all during all these years.

Mine were fairly stiff/inflexible straight out the box but have softened up nicely. I find the same with new gloves , hate them for the first few rides until they're broken in.
Perhaps try wearing them for a few short walks to get them to bend a little more around the gear change pad, it may soften the leather. I think they are fairly stiff in the sole anyway due to the protective steel shank.

only have the shorter boot and found comfortable from begining both on bike and walking. Will certinally replace with daytona if they fail in any way.
