Hi folks,
I got the sat nav prep as one of the options when I ordered my RT LC with the intention of getting a Nav V in the spring. That is still my intention, but I have been offered a mint Zumo 660 for not much money and I am tempted to get it and use it until April, when I will get the Nav V and then give the Zumo to my son. So the big question is will it fit in the factory nav V cradle? I know it will not work with the wheel, but as long as it charges/powers up and locks in fine I will be happy.
Cheers,
John

Yep. It fits and works. The screen is not as bright as the V but its OK. As you say it won't react to the wheel but thats not a real problem.

Cheers RTman, I'll have a punt at the price I have noting to loose...

Reassuring to know & confirms what the BMW Dealer told me when I was considering purchasing an LC, that the Zumo 660 & therefore the BMW Nav. IV will fit & be powered up from the Factory Nav. V Cradle on the Bike, thanks.

I think the only problem would be if you use the audio out on the side of the 660 it will be blocked by the moulding. Not a problem with the IV, it hasn't got one. If you didn't have the audio option on the bike you would need to use Bluetooth.

Re: Zumo 660 in the nav V cradle
Quick update...the 660 works well with the factory cradle. it charges when the bike is running and turns off when the ignition is turned off. Even though the scroll wheel does not function all the menu options are there on the bike computer when the 660 is mounted, you just can't access them.
Bluetooth wise I have it connected to a Scala Q-1 and the instructions are loud and clear in my HJC RPHA-ST even with earplugs in.

IMHO the wheel doesn't do much that's useful as far as satnav is concerned anyway...

Looking at the Garmin - Product Comparison, https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/catalog ... uct=117259.Bimmerbike wrote:Any experience with a Zumo 665?
The only differences are, Battery life & XM® compatible for U.S, plus the 665 costs $100 more than the 660.
I have a 660 myself & would recommend one.

Fully agree, now I have done several trial runs with the 660 on both the RT and in the car, I am more than happy with it's performance. The 660 has everything in the box for bike and car use, to get there with the Nav V is over double the cost and I don't think it will be twice the sat nav. I was never bothered about the wheel as I never play with the sat nav when I am moving anyway.
Re: Zumo 660 in the nav V cradle
Price difference is because the 660 is now discontinued but I agree its a good buy in the short term. I have come across some owners who are having problems getting the full European map updates on but that could be them of course.

Garmin UK list the 660 as 1 of 4 Motorcycle GPS Devices, https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/on-the- ... es-p1.html
Never had any problems installing the full European maps on the Device or PC.
Garmin aftersales support is excellent, they can be contacted for Free on 0808 238 0000 if you have any problems.
