In last week's MCN there's a 2014 RT lc SE with Nav V, Gearshift Pro, and top box. 7600 miles with two new tyres. Full BMWSH and warranty to Aug 2016. £11250.
Cannons have a 2014 (March) SE, top box, 6k miles at £13200. They also have a May 2015 SE with 3k miles at £12700, can't quite understand that unless it's not really an SE.
I remember being told Beemers hold their value until you try to part-exchange one at a BMW dealer.

Crater, Do you think the price reflects the general condition. Just because they are low mileage doesn't mean they are not marked in some way.
I think the location also makes quite a difference with the pricing
The 2014 at £11250 sounds like a good buy, I might be having a look at that if I was in the market for one.
Generally compared with other marques though I think they do hold their 2nd hand price quite well.

It's an interesting one. One of the biggest differences on nearly new Beemers is the extras. An SE with gearshift pro, a Nav V and a BMW top box is going to be worth a bit more than the plain bike. BMW bike dealers, like BMW car dealers, don't seem very good at listing extras so you can make a better judgement on prices when you're looking online.
I guess my point is some top end dealers take advantage of their customers. My local Audi car dealership is probably the worst offender. You are buying a premium (or at least perceived as premium) product. You'll be lucky to get 5 to 10% off list price even as a cash buyer. You want to part-exchange for the convenience as much as anything else. You're spending a small fortune. Their offer for your part exchange will be ludicrously low. It's as if they think because you're spending a lot of money on their premium product you won't notice they are offering 60% of the book price on the trade in. I know you can haggle. And walk away. That's why I bought my new Beemer from a dealer an hour away. £1500 saved nearly all on the trade in value. But we are not mugs. It's easy to do the research now online. I've got nothing against dealers making a fair profit and I like supporting my local people. But crap trade in offers really get my goat.

I contacted several BMW dealers about trading my 2015(15) RT LE with radio/pro headlight/dynamic pack/top box and got offered low of £11000 and high of £1200 after 6000ml and 8mths, Original cost over £17000 8 mths ago. No more new bikes I will buy 2nd hand from now on. Wait till all the new bikes bought on PCP deals hit the market and kill residual values.

I have just bought an immaculate 64 plate RT (Basic model) with 4,600 miles for £9999.00. FBMWSH in San Marino Blue. I think I got a bargain!!.

I recently purchased my 2012 R1200RT with all of the options except NAV. In USD I paid $11,500. It has 33K miles on it but is in pristine condition. MY Credit Union said they could have loaned as much as $15K!
I saw several available from local private sellers for more money and some were 2010's. I guess it all depends on the market and seller. My dealer was a Power sports (think used crotch rockets and 4 wheelers) in a rural farming community in Michigan. Prices were much higher in Detroit and surrounding vicinity.
Since it is a 2012, most of the current improvements are on it, so I'll probably keep it instead of wanting to trade up. 2015's are double the price and I dont think i would have popped for a new one.
I was always told the Beemers are good for 200K miles if properly taken care of, so buying used wasn't an issue for me, especially with only 33k miles. Its just gotten broken in!

The engines probably are, its everything else that wears out :))

I sold a 05 RT with 56000 miles and it ran like a dream, pulled like a train was more economical than when I first got it. Enjoy

In October 2014, I bought a May 2012 RT with a screen price of £10,450, the Bike has now covered 10,674 miles.
Found this June 2012 Model with 10,716 miles on the clock, up for £9,950,

Bought my '11 rt premium package with a color matched smuggler trunk for 10 k with 11,700 miles on the clock. It desperately needed tires but otherwise in excellent condition. Have to note that the gentleman I bought it off of is a long time family friend. Having had this bike for a little over a year now I have to say I fook'n love this machine.

Hi I got my 2012 rt se with audio full bmsh midnight blue 49,000 mile for £5400 from a BMW parts specialist near Holmfirth, excellent bike.

If this is realistic, a depreciation of around £650 per year is not bad.
