Radar Dector Wiring

Post by Oscar Nelsen »

Where should I hardwire my Valentine 1? Directly to the battery, tap the Power Socket wire, tap a parking light wire (did this on my FJR)?

Power socket would be most accessible.

That sounds logical.
My search for answers found there is an unused power connector on the left side. I am going to try to find that and just run wire to the right side (via CAN-BUS GPS/Gadget Power Pigtail part #83300413585) where the mount is installed. If I cannot locate that connector, I am going to tap the power socket. Thanks for your help.

I tapped into the same wire as my P3 lights, it's the plug under the front seat, mines a 15 model,  skene design install instructions point out the location and color of wire
Be aware power will stay on for 30 seconds after turning off ignition switch

Tapped into the Powerlet wire for +12; used the fairing strap for ground.
Made a cradle for the Helmet Assisted Radar Detection helmet display transmitter and taped that to the power connector for the V1.
The detector mount is an old Spider that I could not find on their website. Longer Allen bolts and spacers replace the stock bolts.
