Hi Newbie here.
I`ve just bought a R1200RT LE 2015. It`s my first BMW!!! I`ve been riding a few years now. Had a few Japanese machines in the past and present. I`ve been told it`s time to grow up. Be gentle with me. ^-^ ^-^ ^-^

Welcome. I bought my 2014 RT in January, Been riding since the mid 70s. Loads of info and friendly advice on here, with some good banter.
Re: Newbie
Welcome. Here my list of do's and don't.
Do. Use recommended oil, tyre pressures and fuel.
Don't. Cover it in scaffolding and Christmas lighting. Cut into the Limbus wiring system. If you have an audio system think long and hard before paying out to connect to it. And one final thing. Use the back brake by itself as little as possible. Brakes are semilinked using the bar lever anyway.
Have fun.

Re: Newbie
Welcome from the better Red rose side of the country!! But must admit I spend most of my leisure time in the White rose side, but don't tell them Yorkshire lads
Re: Newbie
Welcome. My first BMW too.
I'd always been told the RT is an old git's bike. Turns out that it is - and I've somehow become an old git!
Top bike though - enjoy...

Best move I've made. Old Git or not - if you mix it on the roads with the Sportsbikes - you just become a Legend.

Re: Newbie
Thanks for the kind responses. I am lucky enough to have the best of both worlds and still currently own a sports bike and a couple of strokers. But I must admit I am now officially an Old Git....A Grumpy one at that...well that`s what the Mrs and the kids say, and I`m loving the BMW. I think now after 35 years riding I`m finally getting it. Seems to be some really good advice on here and I have acted on one bit of good advice already, regarding the plastic covers where the panniers sit. My screws where also loose and now they have been loctited in.
I`m hoping to add an Akra later in the future if funds will let me.
Cheers

I have an Akra fitted. Makes approximately zero difference to power but make a huge difference to the sound and hence the grin factor...
